The drop-ship beamed a transmission to the hangar bay security console. No response was returned from the crew. Chief Warrant Officer Crowe typed in several commands, overriding the control of the inside security console. He then typed in the identification number of his drop-ship. Several seconds passed by as the computer console attempted to authenticate the identification. Then, a small beep sounded from the drop-ship computer. The proper authorization codes were accepted.
The hangar doors opened and the drop-ship ascended into the one of many of the vessels' hangar bays. The pilots' sighed in shock. The inside had been turned into a warzone. Bullet impact craters lined the walls and floors and several casings could be seen. Another drop-ship, that was resting on one of the hangar doors was on fire, its landing gear had some how failed and the front end had collided to the ground, bending it upwards somewhat.
The back exit ramp of the drop-ship slowly lowered and Second Lieutenant John Rico ran down the ramp as it touched the metallic floor. Once of the ramp, he crouched down and observed the surrounding area, scanning every nook and crevice with his rifle at the ready. He clicked on his built-in communicator and spoke into the small microphone inside.
"Move in." He said, awaiting the others to file down the ramp.
Sergeant Hayek ran down the ramp and crouched down next to the lieutenant. He made a knife cutting movement with his hand, signaling first squad to move up. The squad filed down the ramp and into the large hangar. Corporal Sam Dunn informed his men to move to the nearest exit and the men stacked up against the wall. Then, second squad filed down. Corporal Meyen made a knife cutting movement and the squad moved to an area where a large pile of boxes and crates had been stacked. Each box had the SMC symbol painted onto it.
Lance Corporal Elias "Nightengail" Godchild took position in the middle, setting down a large pile of medical equipment. The men spread out a bit and set up a defense perimeter around the medic. Lieutenant Rico nodded to him and then to the sergeant, whispering to the sergeant to form up with first squad. Hayek smiled and ran over to the squad quickly, standing at the helm of the squad that had stacked up against the metallic wall.
The lieutenant regrouped with second squad and set down a large laptop computer. He then pressed the power button and awaited it to load-up. He put in his password and then as the desktop popped up, typed in a command quiery for the U.S.S. Hoover's schematics. Several windows opened up of schematics of the ship, and a red dot to indicate their position on the ship. They were in hangar bay eleven, deck three. A large turbolift in the center of the ship lead up to the command deck. From there, they would have to move to the bow of the ship and there they would find the bridge.
The lieutenant typed in the objectives for first squad. The objectives scrolled across their HUDs on the upper left hand corner of the screen.
"Proceed into the ship and reach turbolift."
Sergeant Hayek grinned at this and signaled for Private Stone to move up to the security panel on the side of the doorway. He walked up and began typing in codes to open the door. An angry beep was given in denial of each code. Becoming frustrated, he pulled out his decoder device and typed in a command to locate the code. The numeric code began popping up in order on his screen. He grinned and typed in the code into the console. No noise was made aside from the small swish the door eminated as it opened.
Stone put his decoder away and Hayek popped out of cover, crouching down low and aiming his assault rifle down the passageway that had been revealed. He sighed as a light flickered. It seemed power was low and the illumination was poor. Their visibility would be limited.
"Flashlights on." Hayek said, activating his.
A circular dot appeared on the wall parallel to them where his flashlight shined across the room. He paid little attention to this and made the same knife-cut movement. Private Stone took point, with Corporal Dunn behind him. Sergeant Hayek took the middle. Private Heimrich was watching the six. The squad had begun their journey into the depths of the U.S.S. Hoover.
