Elias dropped himself against a wall. They'd made it. He peeked out, shot a Strogg through the throat, got up, shot another, then another, then another, and charged.
He charged. He charged. He charged. He shot. He shot. He shot. He killed. He killed. He killed. He did not feel.
A bullet embedded itself in his right bicep, he didn't feel it. Another bullet struck his left pectorial, he didn't feel it. He killed another. And another. And another. How many were there? How many of them were there to kill? How many men did he have with him? He couldn't remember. Did it matter? Wouldn't they all die eventually?

Hayek hit his comm. "Elias send me a status report when you've gotten the bastards on that building. If you've got wounded eliminate the threats and stay up there, we'll come and get you." He said while his gun fired holding back the strogg line so many... He shook his head everything had to end sometime and strogg weren't infinite... They could kill them all, it'd just take a long time...

"Chalk One, thanks for the shot" Elias over the Comm
"Keep our asses covered and maybe one of us will survive" He said, a nail clipping his calf, but nothing serious, just a graze. How lucky could he be?

As Godchild and his small fire team fired on the Strogg in the former hotel, the sound of engines could be heard distantly. The Marines had thought they were imagining the sounds at first, until word came over the horn that there were in fact, GEVs on approach.
"We got three GEVs inbound on our location from my visuals. Over." Hoot said over the communications.
The lead GEV entered a parking lot and began to open fire on the Strogg with its mounted machine gun. The fifty caliber rounds shredded through the Strogg flesh like paper. The Marines cheered and boarded the two back GEVs. Then Second Squad dashed out of the building, firing on nearby Strogg as they approached the forward GEV.
"Hoot, get down here on the double!" Lieutenant Sharpton ordered over the communications.
"Roger." Hoot said in response, cutting off his communicator.
It took a couple minutes for the young Marine to finally reach the first floor and come out into the open parking lot. He had his sniper rifle slung over his shoulder, his assault rifle out. He fired it at two Strogg Soldiers charging at him. They fell quickly to the hail of five point five six milimeter rounds.
"Corporal, get on the turret on GEV One! We need someone to cover the rest of the convoy! Move!"
Godchild hopped off GEV Two, slightly annoyed. What if one of the Marines were hit by stray fire while they were driving. The possibilities were almost limitless. He shrugged the thought out of his head. If it happened, it happened. And Mr. Death would be there to save their asses. He mounted the turret and cocked it. He was ready for kill some Strogg.
The convoy began moving, heading up a road that was once busied by local vehicles, not clear of most obstruction. Godchild opened up on Strogg Soldiers dumb enough to run out into the open to challenge a speeding GEV. The rest of the Marines fired on Strogg with their assault rifles and other various assortments of weaponry.
"Chalk One, this is Kilo Two-Eight. I'll provide overwatch for ya. Over." The drop-ship pilot said.
They could see the drop-ship flying over the convoy. It was swaying out of the way of hostile ground fire, but was too low for the Strogg AA batteries to shoot down. For that, the pilot was lucky. Though he had proved to be an alright pilot as it seemed.
