"Krause, that means you!" Godchild yelled over the weapons fire.
"By the way, I'm Corporal Elias Godchild. Call me Mr. Death. I'm the guy that's gonna keep your ass alive, El-Tee!" Godchild said, and winked at the lieutenant.
He fired a burst into a Strogg's chest. Then another and another. Three Strogg dropped instantly.

"Roger that Corporal." said Sharpton. He pumped off a round of shotgun into a Strogg that got too close. "It's Sharpton. And nice shooting, we're keepin' the boys alive."
(OOC: I know but my character doesn't know any of your names yet, so i figured i would do it for clarity.)

Shadow cursed as he ran out of shots and turned in time to see a rushing strogg grunt. "Shit..." He barely moved fast enough to move out of the way, he pulled out his combat knife and climbed onto the grunts back then ripped off the shoulder-gun and slammed his knife through the metal plate covering the skull. "I hate these things..." His hand went to his stomach, the wound had opened up again and had gotten worse as he coughed up blood and started bleeding heavily. "Mr. Death! Over here..." He choked on his own blood for a moment before coughing it up. He propped himself up against the rubble and fired the grunt's shoulder-gun with one hand.

A grenade landed between the lieutenant's group of Marines and the Hell Hounds. He cursed aloud.
"GRENADE!" He shouted and ran.
The others ran as well, dispersing. Most of the Marines were cut down by enemy fire. Then, the grenade exploded. Shrapnel flew through the air. The only ones to not get hit too badly were the Hell Hounds and the lieutenant. The pieces only stuck in the armor and did not pierce any deeper. The lieutenant's ragtag group of Marines were not so lucky. Those wounded from the blast were killed as well.
"Well, that was FUBAR." The lieutenant yelled.
"No sir. That was SNAFU." Hoot yelled, chuckling.
The Marines kept firing. They heard the sound of a drop-ship. It was becoming more audible as each second passed by. Private Krause pulled out a red smoke grenade and popped it. The smoke arose into the air, becoming noticeable to anyone on the rooftops and the drop-ship. Which was both a plus and a negative. Two Strogg Tactical Snipers ran to the end of the building overlooking the square. They aimed down range, their aim on Tomala and Lee.
Hoot noticed them and he fired. The round pierced the skull of the first sniper. It fell backwards, lifeless. Private First Class Lee whipped around, took aim, and fired. The round hit its neck. Its hands shot to its neck, his more human reflexes kicking in. Lee finished it off with a round to the head, grinning. He said nothing, as usual. Godchild ran over to Hayek and began working on him. He bandaged the wound once more and gave him painkillers and some adrenaline. That would have to do.
"There ya go, Shadow. Try not to open it up again, will ya?" Mr. Death said, smiling at the man.

"Lack of sufficient cover and fire-power means you should be ready for me to open it a third time... Let's move inside a building... No need to keep our guys out in the open." Hayek still felt the pain for about another few minutes till those amazing painkillers kicked in... Of course the adrenaline had pumped most of the pain out by then as well.

"Hayek's right! Unless we get into a building, we'll be screwed, sir. We are under heavy fire and all that red smoke is going to be a Squib magnet." Sergeant Meyen said, "Sergeant Meyen, by the way."

The Lieutenant tried to keep his cool. The boys he had been fighting with all day had just been cut down by a grenade. With them, the last of his unit. He felt he had failed them, but he had to keep going, the Hell Hounds needed him. "Roger that men. Hayek, get the men back to the outside of the building and cover us. Meyen, Hoot, Mr. Death, Krause, help me check my men for any wounded survivors. The rest go with Hayek. Move!" he shouted, and jumped over a pile of rubble, headed to check for any of his men who had made it.

"Hoot, Krause, covering fire! Mr. Death, you and I will check for wounded. Move!" Sergeant Meyen said, preparing to run from cover.
He waited until he heard the crack of weapons fire and ran. He ran for the nearest cover. He then popped up, fired three rounds into a Strogg Soldier who came out of a nearby alley, then ran to another cover position. Bullets pinged off the environment around him. He fired his entire clip into a horde of Strogg coming down an alley. Strogg Grunts, Brutes, Soldiers, and Berserkers were entering the area. They were attracted by the red smoke. Dealing with Tacticals was enough trouble.
A Marine from the lieutenant's unit attempted to move into cover and was killed brutally by a Strogg Berserker. It's drill pierced his back and activated. Blood went flying everywhere, some coating the sergeant.
"Fuck!" Sergeant Meyen yelled.
He reloaded, slamming another magazine into the weapon. He then opened fire, the rounds bombarding the Berserker. After firing half a clip into it, the beast fell to the ground. At least he was assured that Marine was KIA.

Sharpton got down and looked at his marines. He saw the trustworthy Sergeant Miller, with a dozen bullet holes in his chest. He saw one boy moving and crawled over to him. He didn't recognize him, possibly because his face was torn to shreds. But he was crying, and the Lieutenant looked around, firing a round into a Strogg. "Cover me you assholes!" he shouted, as he dropped his shotgun and raised the wounded man over his shoulder. He picked up the gun again, and put it into his belt.

"Cover the El-Tee!" Sergeant Meyen yelled, then fired suppressive shots at the Strogg units.
